Friday!
Proverbs!
Be wise,
my son,
and bring my heart joy, so that I can answer anyone who taunts me.
Proverbs 27:11 CSB
Wow.
I wonder what's going on in the writers life to need to write this!?!
It does tell us something about life, wisdom, joy and what's important - it's more than the here and now, the immediate.
It's about the next generation, about those who we may have encouraged or taught or loved along the way.
This proverb is pointing to a long view.
Investing.
Investing in people.
And that requires a view that is not about the instant, the immediate, the quick fix.
There's been a series of adverts about cheese and that good things take time, and those ads stood in contrast to a culture that is all about the immediate.
Joy and wisdom are not commodities that can be found, created, purchased in the immediate.
They need space, time, relationships...these things take intention.
We're the only ones who can choose these things.
