If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all... James 1:5-6 NIV But I want a carpark, a job, a husband/wife, a pass , success in ________... I want this "trial" to end. Just pull me out. But James, after talking to us about trials, about perserverance, growing in maturity, connects it with wisdom. Maybe it's in the trial that we figure out that we need God's wisdom. That the wisdom of the world often contains some truth, some goodness, if it excludes the Creator, excludes the Big Story, excludes our image bearing status, then it's never going to be True and Good. James says to ask for God's wisdom. Whatever you face today, good, difficult, sad, joyful, celebratory, challenging... ask for Wisdom. #james #james1 #wisdom #ask #Godsgym

This is what the Lord says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is..." Jeremiah 6:16 NIV Ask. Sometimes that's the hardest thing! Ask where the good way is - who has wisdom in this area, who knows the good path, who's been this way before? Finding good people in our lives who can share their wisdom can be hard but worth the effort. They may well be there and yet we simply don't ask. Why not? Pride gets in the way, culture gets in the way, fear of rejection, of looking foolish...yet it's an important part of making good decisions...of finding a way in difficult circumstances... Friday!! Proverbs!! Oil and perfume make the  heart glad, so a man's counsel is sweet to his friend. Proverbs 27:9 NASB Don't know what makes your heart glad but oil, perfume, incense...these were important when this was written. Maybe it's the birdsong in the early morning, the stars, a melody, a touch...a memory...and the sweetness of that is compared to the counsel of a friend Friends care, their advice, their counsel is for our good, because it comes from a heart of love. Nice And friends sometimes need to be asked for advice, so ask. So if we put God in the middle of this, His advice comes from a heart of love, & should be sweet to us, make our hearts glad. And sometimes we need to seek that counsel from Him too... #ask #proverbs #wisdom 

John 14:5 NIV Thomas said to him, Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way? Gotta love Thomas. He wasn't afraid to ask questions. Thomas wanted directions, the roadmap to get to the place Jesus was going...so don't be afraid or hesitate to ask...ask questions of God, your pastor...dig a bit deeper into what you read...
