Friday! Proverbs! Before destruction a man's heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor. Proverbs 18:12 ESV Thanks for the uplift this morning Solomon! Looked up the word translated "destruction". It's "sheber"; a breaking, fracture, crushing, breach, crash. If we re-read this proverb with each of these words Before breaking Before a fracture Before crushing (is that before being crushed?) Before a breach Before a crash... the heart is haughty. Destruction for me speaks of circumstances, our "world". But these words...they speak of our mind, our faith, our heart... something much more inside. And what is before this? Pride. My pride has led to breaking of relationships, to breaches of trust... The antidote? Humility. Jesus left heaven to join creation. To be stuck in space and time, to wash the feet of others.
