Then Jesus began to tell them that (he) must suffer many terrible things and be rejected... He would be killed... Mark 8:31 NLT Friday. What Jesus said was going to happen...happened. Russ Ramsey writes; "After a severe beating, Jesus is nailed to a cross where he remains for six hours until dead. Never before or since has more been lost and gained at the same time. The world gained the atoning sacrifice of Christ. But for those present, either the significance of the moment is lost on them or their hearts break as the One they thought to be the Savior of the world dies at the hands of Rome. They can't stop it, and they don't realize it's for them. They hoped in him, and though he'd told them he would suffer many things... how could they have possibly known this was what he meant?" #feelinglost Jesus was on Friday, still, the full representation of God. Not just humble, but humiliated. For us all And for me personally. No matter what No matter...
Friday may 8 Here it is It's Friday!! and the next Proverb is Proverbs 15:16 NLT Better to have little, with fear for the lord , than to have great treasure and inner turmoil. Contentment. Contentment with what we have...and the next step from that...thankfulness for what we have...better than looking at what others have because "comparison is the thief of joy" We compare our grades, our looks, our houses, jobs, clothes, cars, money, lifestyle...but contentment with where we are at is a choice that we can make... #friday #proverbs #wisdom #somethingtochewon #contentment #bethankful
Friday! Time for some wisdom from Proverbs...we're in Ch 15 and up to v 4 Proverbs 15:4 NLT Gentle words are a tree of life; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit. Do our words speak life? Am I gentle? Or do I crush the spirit of others with the things I say? Maybe this week you've been on the receiving end of life giving or spirit crushing words...we all know what it's like and what blesses and encourages us, & what crushes...so...today...I'm going to listen to my own words and do what I can to speak life. Will you? #friday #proverbs #wisdom #somethingtochewon
Friday!!! Proverbs 29:13 NASB The poor man and the oppressor have this in common: The Lord gives light to the eyes of both. A few things to think about here... God's grace falls upon all. Rich or poor, good or bad... The Lord gives light to the eyes of both...no matter what your background, no matter what you have done, redemption is here...by choosing God anyone can move from darkness to light... In the ESV it reads... The poor man and the oppressor meet together; the Lord gives light to the eyes of both. One day the poor man and the (or is it his) oppressor will meet...in that meeting comes understanding through the light of truth. Who am I oppressing? Are the poor of the world being exploited because of thr purchasing decisions I make? How well am I allowing the Light give me sight? #friday #proverbs29 #somethingthinkabout
Friday! Wisdom...Proverbs 29:12 NLT If a ruler pays attention to liars, all his advisers will be wicked. Leadership is a difficult thing...maybe you are a leader, or will be in some way in the future...this proverb for me is about who we listen to, who's opinion we value, who influences us...and if those people are not honest, don't live with integrity, then there is a widespread problem... So choose carefully who you listen to, and keep supporting the people in leadership in your life :) #friday #proverbs29 #loveyourleaders #choosecarefully
Friday...but it feels like Monday...wisdom Proverbs 29:8 NLT Mockers can get a whole town agitated, but the wise will calm anger. We saw this yesterday with a few people stirring things up around Waitangi Day...how the noise from a small group can stir up the city or the country...be counted among the wise :) #thewisecalmanger #bewise #friday
Friday - wisdom Proverbs 29:7 MSG The good-hearted understand what it’s like to be poor; the hardhearted haven’t the faintest idea. Are you and I good-hearted? Or hard hearted? #lovepeople #somethingtothinkabout #proverbs #wisdom #friday
Friday - Wisdom Proverbs 29:4 NLT A just king gives stability to his nation, but one who demands bribes destroys it. Its unlikely that you or I will be made a king or queen, but we all have (or will have in the future) authority over others. Are we just? Requiring a bribe is just wanting something for our own benefit, to get my way... Bribe = anything given to persuade or influence #bejust #lovepeople #Friday #Proverbs #chaseafterwisdom
