One who has no sense shakes hands in pledge and puts up security for a neighbor. Proverbs 17:18 NIV Do you see Jesus at work in this Proverb? He is the one who recklessly ignored this advice and put himself up as security. For us. His neighbours. For you. He did that knowing in advance that we couldn't keep our side of the deal. It makes no sense. He said he would come after us, seek us out He said he would make a way, and he became the way. He knew there'd be a price to pay. And he willingly paid it. There's only one reason to do things that make no sense, to leave the best place you can imagine to go to the worst, to willingly give up the best of what you have. All that you have. He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both alike an abomination to the Lord . Proverbs 17:15 ESV I do justify the wicked. Because I so easily justify my own thoughts and actions I do condemn the innocent. Quick to blame So that makes me an "abomination to the Lord" It's sin. At the Cross. It's there that my sin and God's love smash together. It's there that Jesus became an "abomination to the Lord", not for his sin, but for mine. It's at the Cross that God's love made a way. Became the way. Its at the Cross where Grace prevailed. And my hope re...
One who is wise is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is reckless and careless. Proverbs 14:16 ESV There is one who was reckless. Reckless with his own life, putting aside regard for his own life, he did not turn away from evil, but went towards it, not to embrace it, but to absorb it, to deal with it, on our  behalf...once for all time... to take the hit, to pay the price...so that we wouldn't have to. This is love. Real love. Not that we loved God, but that He loved us. Reckless love. This love has a name. And that name is Jesus. #sunday #worship #thisisourGod #love #recklesslove
