They will continue to grow stronger, and each of them will appear before God in Jerusalem. Psalms 84:7 NLT The psalmist destination in this song is Jerusalem. Jerusalem = the place, the city of peace. As he takes us on this journey through the valley of tears, digging in, waiting on God to turn the valley of tears into a place of flourishing, of life, his eye, his mind is set on pilgrimage...to the place of peace. Our minds too can be set on that place, the new Jerusalem, the place that Jesus blood gained us entry to. When we're in the valley, set our minds on the place of peace #valleyoftears #ourmindissetontheplaceofpeace #with #through #strength #sunday #worship #thisisourGod #psalms #psalm84
Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.  As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools.  They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion. Psalm 84:5-7 NIV There is strength to be found in the valley. And not just strength, but growing strength. In this song, the songwriter is telling us about the valley of tears, the digging in, the refreshing rain that gives life, and now strength...all while we're in the valley... Our culture yells at us that our comfort is our priority, that getting out of, escaping the valley, is a priority by any means... This song gently tells us that resilience & strength are discovered and grown in the valley... #psalms #psalm84 #valleyoftears #with #through #strength https://youtu.be/1ozGKlOzEVc
As they go through the Valley of Baca they make it a place of springs; the early rain also covers it with pools. Psalms 84:6 ESV The valley of tears. To make it a place of springs we dig in. And the early rains come and fills...we dig in, and after the summer dry, the early rains fill in, and the Valley of Baca, the valley of tears becomes that place of life. Those rains are God at work. The psalmist is still in the valley, still going through, but the dry is ending, and goodness is coming from it. He dug. God filled. And the rain is changing the valley. When God is at work, change happens. Our circumstances may not change, but we do. Check this with Philippians. Paul is in prison. He leaned on his community for support, shared the gospel with his jailers, and people were saved. Blessing. Flourishing. Yet still in jail. Stick with our God who turns the valley of tears into a place of life... #sunday #worship #thisisourGod #faith #psalms #psalm84 #valleyoftears #wi...
As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools. Psalm 84:6 NIV The valley of Baka, the valley of tears, of weeping. The only way is through, but in the process of moving through they make it a place of springs. Springs are about water, about life, about flourishing.  A place where those travelling through, & others coming behind can find goodness. Look for the most likely areas for water...and dig. Dig. In the valley of tears we need to dig. And in that the psalmist is encouraging us that we'll find some goodness for us, and for other travelers. What are the likely places to dig? His Spirit. Pray His Word. Read His people. Share When we're in the valley of hurt, of loss, of grief, it can become a place of life. #psalms #psalm84 #valleyoftears #with #through #inthistogether #life
As they pass through the Valley of Baka... Psalm 84:6 NIV When we're in the valley, the valley of tears, we just want out. God fix this thing. Sort my problem. Restore my health, relationship, financial situation... get me that job... Get me out of this Valley. The Valley of Baka. The Valley of Tears. But the way here is "through". Through. And in his most famous Psalm David wrote this: Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me...even the valley of the shadow of death...we're not alone. Not alone in the Valley. Our God is with us Jesus knows all about the Valley of Tears, and will walk with us ... #tears #valleyoftears #through #inthistogether #psalms #psalm84 #with
Hebrews 6:12 NIV ...imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. Through. Faith and patience.  But I want answers and action! I want it now. God answer me, bring healing, change,  revenge (!)... Through. Faith and Patience. I'd never seen those two things together before...keep the faith, reinforce God's truth in your life, and be prepared to wait... and "Imitate those..." those who have been before us, learn from the experience of others, ask, read,  search... #through #wasn'texpectingthat #keepthefaith #bazinga
Psalm 66 V 9 Praise our God, all peoples...For you, God, tested us; ...we went through fire and water, but you brought us to a place of abundance. Through. The psalmist starts with praise for God...perhaps because he knows the ending, but he describes testing, refining, trials, struggles...but God brought him through...not rescued out of,  no miraculous change in circumstances,  but through. That place of abundance...I wonder what that means? #through #sometimeslifeisnoteasy #praiseGodanyway
Psalm 33v11 But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. Through. We want answers today. We want to see God fix things, solve things, make things right...by lunchtime would be good...but His time frame is different to ours...we forget this story of God and His people that we are part of, this redemptive and restorative story, has been in motion for hundreds of years, for generations...but the purposes of his heart remain the same...He loves us, wants us to love Him, and make Him known... #through #loveGod #lovepeople
Hebrews 13:12 And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood. Through.  Though Jesus blood we are made holy. He did not shy away from the difficult, the suffering, the pain, to make me holy. Through. Jesus went through it all. And me? I just want to avoid "through". I want nice. Pleasant.  Easy. Maybe I need to embrace "through" knowing Jesus has been there and will travel with me... #choose #through
Ps 23v4  Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; Through. Funny looking word haha...but one that is important one for us...There is no removing us from the darkest valley,  or suddenly flood it with light...There is a choice by David not to fear...to hold firm to God, to trust Him even in the dark...and know that He will walk with us through whatever it is, no matter how dark it gets... #choose #nofear #through
