Friday! Proverbs! A man of crooked heart does not discover good, and one with a dishonest tongue falls into calamity. Proverbs 17:20 ESV So not much fun to be had here is there...but a reminder of the importance of what we think, our values, the values of our hearts. If our hearts are crooked, then we're just not going to see the good in situations, or in people. It may be a minor adjustment like a crooked picture on the wall needs straightening. Or it maybe a major realignment. If I'm like the picture on the wall I can't tell if I'm crooked. So I need someone else to point it out, someone from a different perspective, and the best person to do that is God. He straightens my crooked heart with the truth of his Word. As James has been telling us, that happens in the reading of the Word, the hearing it, and also in the living it out. That's when our frame is straightened... #proverbs #wisdom #somethingtochewon #perspective #allowGodswordtostraightenme #...
I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; Psalm 18:1-2 NIV David was a King. He had power, wealth, authority, yet...even he needed a deliverer. So often we think that we can deliver ourselves, save ourselves. We have tremendous resources of intelligence, tenacity, compassion...we can solve what seem insurmountable problems, achieve what seems to be impossible But When we are faced with a holy God Eternity Creation Sin We know that we need a deliverer. The Bible is full of stories of deliverance coming through one person... And we have that one person. A saviour Who not just made a way, but became the way. And why? Because He Loves You And me What a crazy story! God with us For us Adopting us...all we need to do is Believe! #psalms #psalm18 #perspective #safe #deliverer #believe #faith #hope #love
I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; Psalm 18:1-2 NIV When do you need a fortress? Well, you don't need it in peace. You need it in trouble. Who is the enemy? So often my enemy is the thoughts that I allow to stay in my mind. Maybe today as those thoughts arrive and circulate, those things that are not true, not from God, I'll choose to say like David; The Lord is my rock The Lord is my fortress The Lord is my deliverer That I will stand secure in the battle, in the fortress that is my God.  Are you facing a battle? What, or who is your fortress? Where are you looking for protection? David chose our God. Choose Him today Choose to say like David; The Lord is my rock The Lord is my fortress That I will stand secure in the battle, in the fortress that is my God. #perspective #psalms #psalm18 #safe
I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; Psalm 18:1-2 NIV A rock is a high place, a place of safety, a place of perspective. Why do we need a place of safety? Because we're in a battle. Why do we need a different perspective? Sometimes we're so buried in activity, in doing, in life, in the battle, that we lose sight of the bigger picture. We lose sight of God's Big Story Creation Redemption Restoration He says take a breather, come up to this high place, this rock that is Me, and regain perspective. Remember who I AM That I AM with you Take another look at the battle from up here - it's already won! That's where your hope rests. The battle is on. We're in it But it's already won. #perspective #psalms #psalm18 #hope
