Friday! Proverbs!
A man of crooked heart does not discover good, and one with a dishonest tongue falls into calamity.
Proverbs 17:20 ESV
So not much fun to be had here is there...but a reminder of the importance of what we think, our values, the values of our hearts.
If our hearts are crooked, then we're just not going to see the good in situations, or in people.
It may be a minor adjustment like a crooked picture on the wall needs straightening.
Or it maybe a major realignment.
If I'm like the picture on the wall I can't tell if I'm crooked.
So I need someone else to point it out, someone from a different perspective, and the best person to do that is God. He straightens my crooked heart with the truth of his Word.
As James has been telling us, that happens in the reading of the Word, the hearing it, and also in the living it out. That's when our frame is straightened...

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. Colossians 1:15-16 NLT OK so this is an English translation of a letter Paul wrote to a church 2,000 years ago, but does it feel like Paul is wrestling with words and ideas to try and capture all of who Jesus is, of who God is, of how does it work that the walking around Jesus was also there before the beginning of the beginning of everything we can see and touch and know.
