We wait in hope for the Lord;
he is our help
and our shield. 
In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.
May your unfailing love be with us, Lord,
even as we put our hope in you.

"He is our help"
When do we need help?
When we're in trouble

"And our shield"
When do we need a shield?
When we're in a battle

The psalmist finds joy in trouble, in the battle, because of who He places his hope.
In who he chooses to trust.
We get to choose every day
Every hour
Every moment
In what or who we put our trust.
The last part of the Psalm is almost a plea... I know your love is  unfailing, and I am gonna keep choosing You. Even though I'm not feeling it right now.
In our trouble
In the battle
Even when we don't feel it
Choose to trust the Author of Truth.
Choose to rejoice in Him
Choose to sing.
No matter what :)

Genesis 15.8-18.ESV But he said O Lord God , how am I to know that I shall possess it? ...When the sun had gone down and it was dark, behold, a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch passed between these pieces. On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram... March 15 was the last day we looked at Abram's story...he was questioning God and this is God's response...sacrifices and smoke and fire and a covenant...a promise... Isn't that what we crave for sometimes? God, if only you'd just show me smoke & fire, a burning bush a sign, miracle, healing...then all my questions would disappear...all my doubts would be gone... 2moro we'll see Abram's response but I think God values our faith in spite of our questions and doubts. That we choose Him anyway #faith
