If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, "Love your neighbour as yourself", you are doing right. But if you show favouritism... James 2:8-9 NIV So how does favouritism look in your world and mine? Do I ignore the quiet people? The exciting, the famous, the "beautiful"... do I treat them differently? Just a little? For Jesus, the poor, marginalised, the sick, the hurt, the lost were every bit as important...especially the lost... James, Jesus brother, both reminds and challenges us to have a good think about how we are loving our neighbour...in church, at work, study, play...where we live... #james #keepingitreal #loveyourneighbour
Then the Lord said to Moses I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions. On the sixth day they are to prepare what they bring in, and that is to be twice as much as they gather on the other days. Exodus 16:4-5 NIV Sometimes God's instructions are as clear as this...he wanted to see if he could trust people in what was a simple thing...just gather twice as much and take the next day off... Yes there's obedience, but there's the underlying question...do these people love me enough to do what I ask...to do what's good for them? Do I love God enough to just do what He asks? #loveyourneighbour #whoismyneighbour
Matthew 6:9, 11 ESV Pray then like this...Give us   this day our daily bread... In Martin Luther's Catechism published in April 1529 he says "when you pray for your daily bread you are praying for everything that contributes to your having and enjoying your daily bread...you must expand your thinking..." It's through the farmer, the baker, the retailer, the website programmer, the truck driver, & all who work to contribute to bring us food... Luther wrote "God could easily give you grain or fruit without your plowing and planting, but he does not want to do so" Work is an integral part of who God is, and what we do. It's a way that we can love our neighbours by doing good work, and...to be thankful for the work of others in getting us our daily bread...
