Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 NIV Jesus had just been praising God, warning those who weren't seeing  the signs, restating that if you want to know about God, then look at me, and you'll see Him. And then these beautiful words that jump down the centuries and off the page in our modern age... Rest for the weary Rest for the burdened Refreshment Restoration Maybe your good today, or maybe this is what you need. Jesus invites us when we realise that the things we're carrying are not provisions for the journey, but things that are not helpful, not needed. Burdened. When we're not happy to be where we are. Weary. When we realise that just maybe the author of creation, the representation of God walking the earth, may just know what we need...his invitation is there... #rest #restoration #invitation
"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the Lord, who has compassion on you. Isaiah 54:10 NIV Always a bit tricky to take a verse from the middle of a chaoter...but this statement of God's reinforces, restates, reframes, his heart for us. Nothing can shake his love for his people. And the covenant of peace? No longer and never again will we be enemies of God, because Jesus made the way for us, his sacrifice, he is the covenant that makes us right. So we can rest in that. No matter what the pressure or challenges you're facing, no matter how uncertain the future looks, you're secure in His love. His heart is for us. For you. #rest #secure #dearlyloved
Ephesians 5:25-27 ESV ...Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her...without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish... This is us now... Sanctified Cleansed No spots or blemishes or wrinkles Holy This is our position as the result of Jesus work for us...we all still have blemishes...wrinkles... get it wrong...make bad calls...fail...but Jesus says I've got all this covered, it's going to be OK, what I gave up for you is enough. And in that we can rest. #sunday #worship #Christalone #rest
Matthew 11:28-30 NLT part 2 Then Jesus said, Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls Yoke. a wooden crosspiece that is fastened over the necks of two animals and attached to the plough or cart that they are to pull. Jesus is asking us to join with him, to work with him, as we go about the ordinary day-to-day stuff of life. He asks us to let him teach us. And he'll do it gently. A process that takes time as we walk with him, talk, read the Word, & as we experience his gentle encouragement, we will get that deep inner peace. #wordsofJesus #promises #rest #restforyoursoul
Matthew 11:28-30 NLT Then Jesus said, Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Got some stuff you are carrying? Feeling weighed down,  like you're running in mud? Or is there someone you know who is feeling like that? Jesus says come to me. So take him at his word. Talk with him, be honest about your burdens, and ask him for rest. #wordsofJesus #promises #rest
