Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. Psalm 51:9 NIV David is asking two things of God here...he doesn't want God to see his sin. Turn away Hide your face Don't look. I'm embarrassed, disappointed distraught devastated How did I end up here? Don't look at what I've done. But you oh God, you are the only one who can deal with my sin. You're the only one who can blot it out. Without you...I'm lost Don't look at me Yet, I need you to look at me to take away my sin. Ever been in that place? There was a day when God did look away. And Jesus blotted out our sin. Absorbed it. Blotted it up Into himself. So that We Can live. #psalms #psalm51 #amazinglove #clean #free #scars
Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:35-36 NIV Free. Free indeed. Free of the expectations of people. Free to live for the audience of One. Free from the hurts, chains, failures, losses of the past. Free to choose a new way forward. Free from the grasping, dragging, constricting sin that is holding you back, holding you down. Free to live a life of love, of hope, of forgiveness and growth. When you accept Jesus, when by faith you take up his offer, when you choose to believe He is who He said he is, that He gave His life to make a way, to be the way for you, the slavery ends. You belong. You're family. And no matter what, you cannot be lost. God's family. You matter. And you're free. Free to thank Him, free to sing, free to serve, free to give. Free to love. Love like Jesus. #nolongerslaves #childofGod #dearlyloved #free #sunday #worship #this...
But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. Titus 3:4-5 NIV mercy noun compassion or forgiveness shown towards someone whom it is within one's power to punish or harm. God's holiness, his purity, could not live with our unholiness, our impurity. But mercy triumphs over judgement. Mercy is not a feeling or a value, but an action. Action that took Jesus to the cross for us. For me. Occasionally we get a glimpse of that mercy where someone is wronged, harmed in some way, and they forgive. Jesus did more than that. He not only forgave, but took our punishment as well! It would be like going to jail in place of the person who stole your car... Mercy. Mercy triumphs. Love wins #dearlyloved #saved #free
But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy... Titus 3:4-5 NIV I like to think that my goodness saves me...but if it did, I'd never be able to be sure how good is good enough, and what would happen if I slip up and do something wrong, say something...think something... How would I be sure I was good enough? So good that it's not us. Not what we do, have done, will do that saves us, but what Jesus did. He lived the life we couldn't live, and died in our place. It's His Righteousness, His Goodness that saves. And so we're free! Free to live! Free to live in the light of the salvation that's been won for us! #dearlyloved #saved #free
Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?" Matthew 19:16 NIV Isn't this, or some version of this question, asked of Jesus 2,000 years ago, the question of our times? Yes there's some kind of spiritual reality, there's something more to this life than just the material world, what good things do I need to do to ensure the next life is as good as this one...I'm a good person generally, at least as good as other people around me... But just like this guy there's always a question am I good enough? None of us are good enough. But we are in Jesus. It's his goodness that makes a way for us, the good thing he did by giving his life gets us eternal life... #upsidedownkingdom #itsagift #grace #free
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God... John 1:12 ESV Will you read the lyrics of this song out loud? You unravel me, with a melody You surround me with a song Of deliverance, from my enemies Till all my fears are gone I'm no longer a slave to fear I am a child of God From my mothers womb You have chosen me Love has called my name I've been born again, into a family Your blood flows through my veins I am surrounded By the arms of the father I am surrounded By songs of deliverance We've been liberated From our bondage We're the sons and the daughters Let us sing our freedom You split the sea So I could walk right through it My fears were drowned in perfect love You rescued me And I will stand and sing I'm no longer a slave to fear I am a child of God #dearlyloved https://youtu.be/3tOTTeiDpWU
This is what the Lord says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, 'We will not walk in it' Jeremiah 6:16 NIV The sting in the tail. Just when we thought we had a nice formula to fix everything...to find that rest for our souls, we can't do it. All the time. It won't save us. Won't make us right with God Just like Eve & Adam at their unexpected crossroads in the garden, rather than look up, look into the God who they'd walked with, chose their own path. The only thing that saves is Grace. The unmerited favour of our loving God who made a way for us, became the way, so that we now can apply these things at the crossroads of our lives confident that we've already been redeemed, already made right, and we can press on secure in His love & grace #dearlyloved #childrenofGod #free #nofear
Achan replied, "It is true! I have sinned against the Lord , the God of Israel. This is what I have done: When I saw in the plunder a beautiful robe from Babylonia, two hundred shekels of silver and a bar of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them..." Joshua 7:20-21 NIV Achan got caught up with the things of this world. For him it was clothing and money. And he paid for his disobedience with his life. I'm just like Achan. So easily enamoured with the shiny things of this world...the measures of success... Achan paid with his life, but Jesus paid for us with His. So we can stand with our wobbly faith and our hearts that so often let us down...but stand redeemed by a loving God who made a way, The Way, for us. How good is that! We don't live in fear of the law, of being good enough, it's not our cleanliness or our performance, but Jesus. #free #redeemed #redeemedforapurpose #nofear
Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love. Ephesians 1:4 AMPC In school did you ever have games where 2 captains picked their teams...who they wanted first? God says to each of us "I pick you first" I want you on my team. You Chosen Known Loved And when we respond to that call to join His team, to step out of the line, blameless Blameless Our sin is dealt with, our past is irrelevant, our future is secure, and our present...is to be lived! Lived in the freedom that we are chosen... #dearlyloved #sunday #worship #thisisourGod #free
A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever.  So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free. John 8:35-36 NLT We're members of God's family, sons & daughters of the King, & we're free. Free from the things that bind us up, hold us back...yet...sometimes we still hang on to those things because they're familiar...if there's something holding you back, it's time to let it go. Children of the King are not condemned but loved, nurtured and...forgiven. This is amazing grace This is unfailing love That You would take my place That You would bear my cross You laid down Your life That I would be set free #hymns #wordsofJesus #free
