Indeed,
we have all received grace upon grace
from his fullness,
for the law was given through Moses;
grace
and
truth
came through Jesus Christ.
John 1:16-17 CSB
This word "fullness" is a term used to describe a ship laden with merchandise.
What is the merch of Jesus?
Grace.
Upon Grace.
Upon Grace.
While you may not always see the law as part of Grace, it was.
But Jesus takes Grace to a whole new level.
Moses was your guy who met with God and got the law, Jesus is next level.
Jesus didn't come with tablets of stone, but with Grace and Truth.
And he is laden with it.
Grace
upon
Grace.
Grace is stacked up.
Grace. Favour. Blessing.
It has this meaning of "leaning in".
God is leaning in, towards us.
He's come down.
Stooped down.
Made Himself small enough, stripped away the power that would destroy us, to lean in towards us.
Grace
upon
Grace.
Jesus is leaning in towards us today.
Rest in that.
