Proverbs!
Differing weights are detestable to the Lord , and dishonest scales are unfair.
Proverbs 20:23 CSB
This seems to be about the practice of using one stone to measure produce when buying, and a different one when selling, to improve the margin of the trader in a dishonest and fraudulent way.
It's about the heart of the person with power.
In this case the one who owns and manipulates the stones for their benefit.
Where do I do that?
Where do I use my power, my knowledge, my advantage, for my benefit?
Who do I judge using a different scale?
Have you ever thought that's how we judge ourselves?
I do.
I justify my own behaviour, judge myself lightly.
And then I can condemn myself in ways that I would never condemn others. That I'm too bad.
Beyond redemption.
Unacceptable.
Unloveable.
The other side of this proverb is a true measure.
And for my heart, and yours, Jesus is our true measure.
And the Cross is the place where my sin and His love and redemption meet.
And Love Wins
