...Jesus looked at him and said, 
"You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas (which, when translated, is Peter ).
John 1:42 NIV
Peter. The rock.
Jesus looked at him, and already knew his name.
And then he gave him a new name. 
A name that spoke not to his past, but to his future. 
Jesus saw Simon and knew not just his name, but who he was, and at the same time, what he could become.
Jesus sees us. 
And he knows your name.
Knows what has shaped us, and I think he has a new name, a new identity for us. 
He sees what we can be, what God put in us from before time, what we can become.
Jesus knows you.
Knows your name.
And has a new name for you, a future with him for you to step into.
Did Simon/Peter shift in an instant?
No.
But he did change. 
By following Jesus.
He sees you.
He knows your name.
He loves you.
Follow Him.

Genesis 15.8-18.ESV But he said O Lord God , how am I to know that I shall possess it? ...When the sun had gone down and it was dark, behold, a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch passed between these pieces. On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram... March 15 was the last day we looked at Abram's story...he was questioning God and this is God's response...sacrifices and smoke and fire and a covenant...a promise... Isn't that what we crave for sometimes? God, if only you'd just show me smoke & fire, a burning bush a sign, miracle, healing...then all my questions would disappear...all my doubts would be gone... 2moro we'll see Abram's response but I think God values our faith in spite of our questions and doubts. That we choose Him anyway #faith
