Friday! Proverbs!
The slacker does not plow during planting season;
at harvest time he looks, and there is nothing.
Proverbs 20:4 CSB
Quite easy to pick this proverb up and sling it at someone who I don't think is working, working hard, working as hard as me, working at the things I think they should be doing...
And while it is true at that level, maybe there's more to this.
Jesus talked a lot about planting and reaping and the Kingdom.
Planting season follows the last harvest, and this person got slack after the last harvest, the last win, the last victory.
That person can easily be me.
Is me.
What if this proverb is really about our hearts, and being faithful, not getting so caught up in the result card, the outcome, but being faithful to what, where, and who God has called us.
At the time of ultimate harvest, am I going to look back on my life and see nothing of lasting value?
