So Jesus tried again. "When you raise up the Son of Man, then you will know who I am - that I'm not making this up, but speaking only what the Father taught me. 

The One who sent me stays with me. 

He doesn't abandon me. 

John 8:27-30 MSG

"When you raise up the son of man" doesn't seem to be referring to what the word means, to exalt, to lift up, because the religious leaders never did that, it's a pointer for us about how he will die, and who will be responsible.

Jesus was on mission, and some people will only get it afterwards. 

When you're standing for what is right, for justice, standing against the tide, the norms of this world, not everyone will get you.

When we feed the hungry, give water to the thirsty, take in the stranger, clothe those who need it, take care of the sick, those in prison, help those without resources, the vulnerable, the hurt, those injured by others, those kept on the edge, the outer...etc... people may not get it. 

May not get you.

But if your hand is in God's and you are increasing the shalom in the world, then you're in good company :)
