made us alive with Christ even though we were dead in trespasses.

Clearly to be reading this we must already be alive, so Paul is talking about a different kind of life.
The word in Greek is "suzoopoieo", which means "to make alive together with".
The focus here then is about being made alive together with Jesus. This new life is not on our own, but with Jesus, wrapped in, entwined in some way, merged even.
Made alive with.
There's times when we can feel so alone, but this verse indicates a deeper spiritual reality.
I don't know how it works, but I do know it's an act of grace, an action, an outcome of grace.
Somehow you and I have been made alive together with Jesus.
Let's just let that sink in today...
