So Jesus tried again. "When you raise up the Son of Man, then you will know who I am - that I'm not making this up, but speaking only what the Father taught me.
The One who sent me stays with me.
He doesn't abandon me. He sees how much joy I take in pleasing him." When he put it in these terms, many people decided to believe.
John 8:27-30 MSG
"He doesn't abandon me"
Jesus faces opposition, unbelief, was rejected, abandoned by his family and his team, sweated blood alone in the garden before his crucifixion, and even cried out that he had been abandoned while on the cross.
In those moments it must've felt like it.
Felt abandoned.
Felt forsaken.
If these are familiar feelings you're not alone, but Jesus words here speak of a different reality:
The One who sent me stays with me.
He does not abandon me.
Somehow, sometime, we will see that we never were abandoned.
Like a small child who loses sight of a parent we can feel lost at times.
But we are not, and cannot be lost to the God who loves us.
Loves you.
Rest in that today.
