Jesus spoke to them again: 
"I am the light of the world. 
Anyone who follows me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life." 
So the Pharisees said to him...
John 8:12-13 CSB
The Pharisees are back. Not sure if the crowd is still there but it seems likely.
The woman who has just  been released from the bondage of her past may well still be there too, and had these words spoken over her life too.
Just follow me.
Step into the light.
Don't wait. 
The Pharisees would have you fix yourself first, sort out all your stuff, become gooder.
Don't wait.
Come as you are.
You don't have to deal with the darkness because that's my job. 
I'm the light.
You don't have to generate it, make it or be it 
I'm the light.
Follow me.

Jesus knew that the cross was ahead, but redemption was right there for these people, right then. 
The self righteous Pharisees who only wanted Jesus gone. 
The crowd who were interested in Jesus teaching.
The person who has a history.
Whoever we are, Jesus says to choose.
Choose to follow him, and it's his light that defeats the dark of separation from God.
