Jesus wept.
John 11:35 CSB
Yes this is the answer to a Bible trivia question about shortest verses in the Bible, and yes there's a lot going on in this account of the death of Lazarus.
But one of the things these two words tell us is that things, events, loss, hurts, people, loss, grief, these things hurt.
And it's OK not to be OK.
Jesus wept.
It's OK to feel the hurt.
It's OK to cry.
You're allowed.
There's no shame in that, it's not something we have to cover up, push down or hide.
Jesus wept.
It's OK to feel and share in the hurt of others.
Jesus wept.
And it's OK to cry over our own losses.
Jesus wept.
Our God, the Eternal, the Creator, made himself small, put aside all the power, entered into the story, became one of us, and felt what we do.
He knows.
This is love, that He hurts with us.
With you.
