The chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that if anyone knew where he was, he should report it so that they could arrest him.
John 11:57 CSB
These guys had a lot of power in their community.
How we exercise our power is an embodiment of our character, whether that's on the Ukraine border, the grounds of parliament, or in our relationships with others.
The person who the chief priests and Pharisees were after exercised his power in the opposite way to them...he arrived in the most vulnerable way possible, as a baby.
He showed his power in glimpses in the signs that John has described, but only as pointers to what he really wants us to see ...our God who loves us so much that He gives it all up for us.
He wants us to see that love wins.
Jesus asks us to "follow me". Paul in Eph 5:1 calls us to imitate God.
In a world that seems so upsidedown Jesus invites us to be part of his upsidedown kingdom.
