Even though
I walk through
the valley
of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
Psalms 23:4 ESV
As a country something has shifted.
The face of evil that lurks in our domestic violence, our child abuse statistics, and in our suicide rates, has jumped out of the shadows.
We live in the valley.
The shadow of death has been here all along.
We have been too comfortable with it.
The psalmist calls us not to live in fear.
Not because there's nothing to be afraid of, but because of who is with us.
Yahweh.
Even though.
Even though we're in the valley God is with us.
May our love, compassion and care for our neighbours speak of, make visible, our God who we trust.
Even though we're in the valley.

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth.
