And they were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as the scribes. And immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit. And he cried out...
Mark 1:22-23 ESV
There's a lot going on here...

It was Jesus teaching that prompted the spirit in this man.
(If your church doesn't teach the Bible, then move)

Jesus taught with authority. In Matthew 28 that authority is given to us!
All of us.

His teaching challenged this evil spirit. Hearing the Bible taught should be challenging sometimes for us too.
Confronting.
Uncomfortable.

This guy with the evil spirit was in church. Not everyone is who they seem.
Even in church

Jesus still was grace-filled. He didn't charge in to the situation. He waited for the spirit to reveal itself in response to His teaching. It's not my words that transform, but God's Words

Genesis 15.8-18.ESV But he said O Lord God , how am I to know that I shall possess it? ...When the sun had gone down and it was dark, behold, a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch passed between these pieces. On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram... March 15 was the last day we looked at Abram's story...he was questioning God and this is God's response...sacrifices and smoke and fire and a covenant...a promise... Isn't that what we crave for sometimes? God, if only you'd just show me smoke & fire, a burning bush a sign, miracle, healing...then all my questions would disappear...all my doubts would be gone... 2moro we'll see Abram's response but I think God values our faith in spite of our questions and doubts. That we choose Him anyway #faith
