Peter said,
"Explain the parable to us."  "Are you still so dull?"
Jesus asked them.
"Don't you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body?
But the things that come out of a persons mouth come from the heart, and these defile them...

Not Peters finest moment... but at least I'm not alone in "not getting it"...sometimes we miss Jesus point, but, here he goes on to make it crystal clear...
Food is just food.
The rules around food were to point you towards God. To orient your heart towards him.
It's not the rules, not keeping the rules, but the heart... always our heart.
Lord may today my heart be oriented towards you, and then the things I do and say will reflect that.
Amen.
