Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress;
have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
How long will you people turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods
Psalm 4:1-2 NIV
This psalm was written as a song...and just like songs we might sing today that speak of heartache, of loss.
It speaks of unanswered prayer, a seemingly aloof God.
It covers other people turning the good we're trying to do into bad.
And the clearly ages old problem of looking in the wrong places for answers...
This psalm, this song, gives us permission to write our own songs. To express our stories... and express them to God.
He wants to hear our hearts - it was OK for David to express his in this song and it's OK for you and me to express ours - in whatever form works for you...

Genesis 15.8-18.ESV But he said O Lord God , how am I to know that I shall possess it? ...When the sun had gone down and it was dark, behold, a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch passed between these pieces. On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram... March 15 was the last day we looked at Abram's story...he was questioning God and this is God's response...sacrifices and smoke and fire and a covenant...a promise... Isn't that what we crave for sometimes? God, if only you'd just show me smoke & fire, a burning bush a sign, miracle, healing...then all my questions would disappear...all my doubts would be gone... 2moro we'll see Abram's response but I think God values our faith in spite of our questions and doubts. That we choose Him anyway #faith
