John the Baptist, who was in prison, heard about all the things the Messiah was doing. So he sent his disciples to ask Jesus, "Are you the Messiah we've been expecting, or should we keep looking for someone else?"

This is the key for all people, for all time - is Jesus the One, the messiah, the one who came to save, to make a way...is Jesus the real deal?
As CS Lewis put it - was Jesus a liar, a lunatic...or Lord, because being a good man, a good teacher, just speaking moral truth, another prophet, those are not options he leaves open.
This trilemma is at the heart of all questions of faith - and each person at some time in their life needs to answer it for themselves... who is Jesus?

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth.
