John was in prison & so is Paul. Yet he knows "the secret".
It's not our circumstances.
Yet that is the first place I look, the thing I want changed. If only... when... why can't... God just fix my problems...

Then re-read this letter from the beginning... know who Jesus is & what he did, choose to live with the same servant heart and attitude he did, choose thankfulness as a way of living...it's there, in surrendering to God that the secret to contentment is found...
