The Lord is my shepherd; I have what I need.
Even when I go through the darkest valley,
I fear no danger,
for you are with me;
Psalms 23:1, 4 CSB
Trust.
Hope.
Trust.
This first statement from David is one of trust.
Yahweh, God, is my shepherd, so, no matter what I think, or feel, or what my circumstances say, I'm going to trust Him.
In Him I'm OK.
Trust.
Hope.
This dark place, David describes as a valley. Been there?
Maybe you're there today.
Why is this hope?
Because it's not final. No matter how slow progress is the valley is not the destination but somewhere we pass through.
Hope because we're not alone in it.
Trust
It can feel lonely in the dark, in the valley, but Yahweh is with us.
It can be dangerous. There are reasons to be afraid.
In that, trust that He is good.
Trust ourselves to His care, to follow His words not ours, to believe what He says about us and to us.
Trust that He is good, and that's enough.
I have what I need.
