I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the glorious Father, would give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.
Ephesians 1:17 CSB
When I pray for someone often it's about fixing something.
Something is broken.
Something in this world, something in a person, something in their body or mind or heart that is broken.
And I want it fixed.
I don't think there's anything wrong with those prayers, but Paul gives us a start point in his prayer here that maybe shifts things.
He acknowledges God the three-in-one nature of God, and prays that the people he is writing to would know more of Him.
More of God.
This morning, may you and I, no matter what we face today, what lies ahead this week, be given the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, may we know more of who God is, may his priorities for this world be a little clearer, may our desire to follow him be a little stronger, may we step into today, into this week with a little more security in the grace that made a way for us.
Amen.
