Friday! Proverbs!
What is desired
in a man 
is steadfast love,
and a poor man 
is better 
than a liar.
Proverbs 19:22 ESV
Steadfast! What a great word :)
What is desired, desireable, the concept here is worn like an ornament, a marker of who you are, is steadfast love, the ongoing kindness towards others expressed in words and actions.
It's not a list of do"s and don'ts, it's who you are.
Who I am (called to be).

And the second part, better to speak the truth than live a lie, even if there seems to be an easier or better life in it for you. 

But why are these 2 things connected in the same proverb?
Maybe this marker of steadfast love, ongoing kindness and care, comes from a life of integrity. 
For example, giving a donation is an act of kindness, but was the money generated from a life of kindness?
Our God is most interested in our hearts and the transforming of our hearts to be more like His.

Genesis 15.8-18.ESV But he said O Lord God , how am I to know that I shall possess it? ...When the sun had gone down and it was dark, behold, a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch passed between these pieces. On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram... March 15 was the last day we looked at Abram's story...he was questioning God and this is God's response...sacrifices and smoke and fire and a covenant...a promise... Isn't that what we crave for sometimes? God, if only you'd just show me smoke & fire, a burning bush a sign, miracle, healing...then all my questions would disappear...all my doubts would be gone... 2moro we'll see Abram's response but I think God values our faith in spite of our questions and doubts. That we choose Him anyway #faith
