After six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John and led them up a high mountain by themselves to be alone.
He was transfigured in front of them,
and his clothes became dazzling,
extremely white,
as no launderer on earth could whiten them.
Mark 9:2-3 CSB
Something big is going on here. Something that cannot easily be captured in words, something we might categorise as a spiritual experience of some kind.
Let's just consider the relational bit tho.
There was the crowds.
There were lots of disciples (see Luke 10 where Jesus sent out 72), then there's the 12.
And now it's these 3.
This transformation could've happened on the big stage, in front of thousands, but chose his 3 closest people.
Jesus also trusted them to hold this part of his story (see v 9-10).
We all need a small team we can share the most important and pivotal parts of our lives with.
Find that person, those people. Interesting that only one of the three here was family.
It's a privilege to be let in to someone's life and to share special parts of their journey, and to hold their story.
It's part of loving one another.
Be that person for someone else, and hold their story as a precious treasure.
