Jesus warned his disciples not to tell anyone who he was.
The Son of Man must suffer many terrible things, he said.
He will be rejected by the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He will be killed, but on the third day he will be raised from the dead.

So the disciples have figured out who Jesus really is.
Why would he then say "don't tell anyone"?
Maybe they don't really get what Jesus was all about. They were still expecting rescue from Roman rule, making things right in the external, in the now...because the next thing Jesus talks to them about is his death...how can he be a messiah, a saviour, yet die...so much more to learn...
Yes a saviour.
But yes a sacrifice. An atonement.
