Sunday Psalms;
The Lord is king!
He is robed in majesty. Indeed,
the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength.
The world stands firm and cannot be shaken.
Your throne,
O Lord,
has stood from time immemorial.
You yourself are from the everlasting past.
The floods have risen up,
O Lord.
The floods have roared like thunder;
the floods have lifted their pounding waves.
But mightier than the violent raging of the seas,
mightier than the breakers on the shore - the Lord above is mightier than these!
Your royal laws cannot be changed.
Your reign,
O Lord,
is holy
forever and ever.
Psalm 93. NLT.
It would seem that whoever wrote this song had experienced some kind of flooding event, some kind of natural disaster, and this song is some kind of resposnse.
A reminder that our God is bigger than the disasters that might come upon the land, that might impact us.
A reminder that there's a Bigger Stroy here, a reminder of our God's eternal nature, outside of space and time, and there's an unsaid security in that, hope in that, no matter what disaster hits, there is a Bigger Story, and we're going to be OK.
