After Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, wise men from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying,
"Where is he who has been born king of the Jews?
For we saw his star at its rising and have come to worship him."
Matthew 2:1-2 CSB
Who were these guys?
Did they really ride camels?
Where had they come from?
How long did it take them to get to Jerusalem?
But the big question is how did they know?
How did they know what the star meant?
That the star meant a king had been born and that he was the king of the Jews?
I'm reminded of a prophet from our own history, Toiroa, who not only predicted the clothing and transport of Europeans before they arrived here, he also said "The name of their God will be Tama-i-rorokutia (Son-
who-was-killed), a good God, however, the people will still be oppressed"
Our God has made himself known, and clearly did to these "wise men from the east", He wants to be known, in that knowing is Life, and hope, wrapped up in a newborn baby...
