In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from citizenship among the people of Israel, and you did not know the covenant promises God had made to them.

You lived in this world without God and without hope.

But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.

Ephesians 2:12-13 NLT

While Paul seems to be writing not just to the church at Ephesus here but also to all people who weren't Jews. As a group they didn't know God, they were excluded.

Kept out.

Not good enough.

Not enough.

Without God, and without hope.

As these words echo down the centuries we can rest in the work that Jesus did. 

We are no longer excluded.

You are not excluded.

Hope is restored, as Jesus life given in love fills all the gaps, breathes life into what was dead, and we become enough. 

Because of Jesus.

Rest in that today.
