Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus,
and Timothy our brother: To Philemon our dear friend and coworker,
to Apphia our sister,
to Archippus our fellow soldier,
and to the church that meets in your home.
Philemon 1:1-2 CSB
More labels, but this time they're about others.
Fellow soldier.
Sister.
Co-worker.
Brother.
Inclusive labels that don't hold people at bay, but they're labels that wrap people in.
Labels that include.
And then there's the label attached to Philemon translated "dear friend". This word is "agapétos" which means "beloved".
Beloved.
Dearly loved.
Greatly loved.
Someone you love.
Beloved.
Paul calls Philemon that.
Beloved.
What a great label to use.
Our heavenly Father uses it to label Jesus.
And in Romans 1:7 it is used to label us.
Beloved.
You are beloved.
