Jesus said to them,

"Truly I tell you, Moses  didn't give you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.

For the bread of God is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."

Then they said,

"Sir, give us this bread always."

"I am the bread of life..."

John 6:32-35 CSB

They'd eaten the bread (& fish) that miraculously multiplied. 

Jesus just told them it's not the bread. 

But there still seemed to be confusion.

Give us this bread all the time.

"I am the bread of life"

There must've been nothing "God like" in Jesus appearance, nothing outward that showed them that Jesus was not like them.

They were still looking for the "bread of life" in the created.

And I can be just the same.

The bread (& fish) were good things. They had life in them.

But they weren't Life.

Relationships, music, art, sport, business, work, money, family, ministry, church, food, learning, achieving...all good things, things that have life in them.

Jesus. 

Ordinary looking, walk-past-him-in-the-street Jesus, he is Life.

Let's not miss him in '21
