Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

Funny thing, I always thought this passage included getting what you want, what you ask for.
Rejoice
Live it out in the world
Remember God is near
Don't be anxious. Pray instead.
And you'll get...peace.
A supernatural peace.
The other thing I think I expect is immediacy.
Give me that peace right now.
Instead
Rejoice
Live it out in the world
Remember God is near
Don't be anxious.
Pray instead.
Rinse and repeat.
The only players here are God and me.
My circumstances aren't mentioned, so they may not change, God doesn't change (although we can learn more about Him) so that just leaves me...
This process could well be about changing me.
