"My kingdom," said Jesus, "doesn't consist of what you see around you. If it did, my followers would fight so that I wouldn't be handed over to the Jews.
But I'm not that kind of king, not the world's kind of king."
John 18:36 MSG
Today we "celebrate" the actions of a man who wanted to violently overthrow the government for religious reasons, Guido Fawkes. Actually its his failure to carry out his plan we celebrate.
But we worship today, one who did succeed in his plan, and it was the opposite...to submit to violence, to receive the worst that people could throw at him, because his kingdom is not like the world's, and neither is he like the powerful.
He came to usher in a new kingdom, but a new kingdom based in love.
Love God
Love others
And we celebrate this kingdom not with fireworks, but with bread, with wine, with a cross.

Joseph replied..."Dont you see, you planned evil against me but God used those same plans for my good, as you see all around you right now - life for many people..." Genesis 50:19-20 MSG The view from the drone. The different perspective. "God has been at work in my life despite, in fact within the hatred that you had towards me. Even though I couldn't always see it, I kept trusting Him, even when He was silent, when all hope seemed lost... God was at work... Can you see that now?" #faith #faithinthedark
