Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

John says there's enough here - enough for us to believe that Jesus is who he said he is, the fulfillment of prophecy & the law, who bore our sins to make us right with God, the perfect and complete sacrifice...
And he's personal - we are the objects of his love, who wants us to meet with him and commune with him, who is preparing a new earth for us where all the hurt and loss and pain of this one is done away with...when his restoration project is complete and all will be made new... and all it takes is that we believe...

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can't see - such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him.
