And some of you used to be like this. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

1 Corinthians 6:11 CSB

Paul has just written to his people about some ugly situations that people in the church have been involved in, and seems to want them to wake up to some of their choices and how they were seeing things. 

And then he gives this beautiful reminder of change. He reminds us to look at ourselves, some of our own choices and attitudes, and to see what we've put behind us, and the redeeming work if Jesus in our lives.
