And some of you used to be like this. 

But you were washed,

you were sanctified,

you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

1 Corinthians 6:11CSB

There were lots of problems in the Corinthian church that Paul is writing to.

Big problems.

He ends this passage with the reminder to keep putting off the old, the life we lived, the things we did before we knew Jesus. 

We have been washed. 

Cleaned.

The stain and stench of sin, our own or others, is washed. 

Made clean.

Justified. Made right before God.

Sanctified. Being made more like Jesus in the everyday stuff of life. 

How do these things happen?

Two things:

The name of Jesus.

The power of God's Spirit.

In those, our life is safe, secure 

And we've been washed, made clean.

Live in that truth today.
