This "forgetting" word, it has the meaning of neglecting or just not caring for something.
Paul is just not caring for the past anymore, yes it's part of who he is, part of his life, but it's just not as important, not as influential on him, as what is ahead.
He is refusing to dwell there.
Whether the past is full of victories, joys, wins, or defeats, failures, hurts and despair, he's just not caring for it.
Neglecting it.
Let the dust collect on the past as it's what is ahead that's more important.
Choose better.
Choose what is ahead.
