But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.
Philippians 2:17 NIV
Paul looks back to the sacrificial system & compares the people's service with the main part of the sacrifice - the bull or the lamb - & his life as the drink offering poured out - see Numbers 15.
He's saying to his people I'm just this small part of what your doing, the part that gets absorbed into the main part, or runs out on the ground... or is part of the aroma to God of the offering of your life.
The work of your life.
Grateful for the small part he played.
Humble.
Poured out.
Poured out but connected.
Connected to the service of his community, their service that springs from faith.
Today I'm grateful for those whose life has been poured out that I have absorbed and been blessed by. Pastors, mentors, Bible teachers, authors, those walking with me...
And grateful to the One, Jesus, who's life was poured out for me, the once and for all sacrifice.

Genesis 15.8-18.ESV But he said O Lord God , how am I to know that I shall possess it? ...When the sun had gone down and it was dark, behold, a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch passed between these pieces. On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram... March 15 was the last day we looked at Abram's story...he was questioning God and this is God's response...sacrifices and smoke and fire and a covenant...a promise... Isn't that what we crave for sometimes? God, if only you'd just show me smoke & fire, a burning bush a sign, miracle, healing...then all my questions would disappear...all my doubts would be gone... 2moro we'll see Abram's response but I think God values our faith in spite of our questions and doubts. That we choose Him anyway #faith
