At the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem, the Levites were sought out from where they lived and were brought to Jerusalem to celebrate joyfully the dedication with songs of thanksgiving and with the music of cymbals, harps and lyres.
Nehemiah 12:27 NIV
Songs of thanksgiving.
The task was done. The wall was built. It was a good thing. It would bring unity, security, prosperity.
We're often about the task.
But with God it's about the heart.
These weren't songs of victory, that we're now stronger than our enemies, that we won, but songs of thanksgiving.
Of worship.
Of making God bigger.
Of ascribing ultimate worth to Him.
They'd rebuilt the city, their community & the wall. All good things.
But things that could also let them down or consume them if they became the ultimate thing.
Family, friends, education, property, travel, work etc. All good things.
But not the ultimate thing.

Joseph replied..."Dont you see, you planned evil against me but God used those same plans for my good, as you see all around you right now - life for many people..." Genesis 50:19-20 MSG The view from the drone. The different perspective. "God has been at work in my life despite, in fact within the hatred that you had towards me. Even though I couldn't always see it, I kept trusting Him, even when He was silent, when all hope seemed lost... God was at work... Can you see that now?" #faith #faithinthedark
