Therefore, my dear friends...continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

What's the "therefore" there for?
To point us back to the early verses of Phil 2 which is all about our heart attitude being the same as Jesus:
giving up any glory
humility
giving it all up for us in love
Then Paul says this how you work out your salvation...something you have but keep on living.
Why?
Because God wants to keep working in us...working on us...AS we live out the values Jesus modeled.
So choose the heart values Jesus did and somehow God will keep shaping us for his purposes...
