Proverbs!
A ruler with no understanding will oppress his people,
but one who hates corruption will have a long life.
Proverbs 28:16 NLT
There's something about hating corruption, dishonesty, injustice, and loving the opposite things, fairness, justice, honesty, truth. This seems to be a reflection of God's heart, and this proverb is about standing against corruption, standing against unfairness, standing against injustice, and it's that heart that stops us mistreating others in those places where we have power.
That might be at home, at work, at church, in our friendships and relationships with people, when I walk into a store...
This proverb encourages us to think about how we stand in the world, how we are.
It asks us to see where things are not right, and in ways where we can, stand against those things. To be part of making the world a little better.
