"Everybody who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise builder who built a house on bedrock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the wind blew and beat against that house. It didn't fall because it was firmly set on bedrock. But everybody who hears these words of mine and doesn't put them into practice will be like a fool who built a house on sand. Jesus is not speaking to children, this is not a story for them, but a warning not to take Jesus words and teaching lightly, not to hear them and not let them change us, shape us, move us.

Jesus tells us to "put them into practice", let them guide our priorities, choices, actions, what we invest our time, energy, money in, the values that we build our life on. 

Jesus words are not theory to know, but ideas that are lived out, that come to life in the world we live in, as we love God and love our neighbour.
