Friday! Proverbs!
How much better to get wisdom than gold! To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.
Proverbs 16:16 ESV
Yes that's what I want - wisdom! Understanding!
But...I want the gold.
Is it just me that wrestles with this?
Is it the perceived security of the gold? The house? The business? The education...the lifestyle, the travel...
Solomon says to get wisdom...but didn't he get the gold as well?
The battle for me is that wisdom and understanding become the priority and that I'm prepared to give away the gold (or what the gold represents) as a result.
What am I afraid of?
That putting wisdom and understanding above the gold might take me somewhere uncomfortable?
Jesus said to seek first God's kingdom. That's the wisdom and understanding that leads to Life, and the gold and silver start to fade...

Friday! Proverbs! The Lord hates six things;  in fact, seven are detestable to him:  (1) arrogant eyes,  (2) a lying tongue,  (3) hands that shed innocent blood, ... Proverbs 6:16-17 CSB This list of things that Proverbs describes that our God stands against, are anti-God, must be things that God isn't.  It's easy to use Proverbs as a weapon, to accuse or label others, but Proverbs is about finding the way of wisdom, of life, it's about the heart, mine, yours, ours.  And it's full of metaphor.
